Interlibrary loan
The Strasbourg Bibliothèque Nationale et Universitaire participates in Inter-Library Book Loans (PEB Prêt entre bibliothèques), a service that enables a network of French and foreign libraries to both lend and borrow documents (both originals and copies.)

For valid, registered readers with the Strasbourg BNU
We process the following requests for our readers:
-
to check out books, dissertations or theses kept in foreign or French libraries (except those in Strasbourg and surrounding area libraries.)
-
to obtain photocopies of articles from periodicals or conserved monographs from foreign or French libraries (except those in Strasbourg and surrounding area libraries.)
Requests for works that cost €15 or less and which are still available in stores will not be considered.
How to register
You need to fill out a request form from the PEB.
There are 2 ways to do this:

Terms of use
Fees :

€4 per work checked out
-
€4 for the first 20 pages of original photocopies, plus €2 for the following groups of 20 pages ·

€15 Special fee for requests sent to England, the USA or Canada
Delivery time: 2 – 3 weeks (approximately)
The length of the loan is set by the lending library: from 15 to 30 days
The lending library will also define how the work can be viewed: either at home or on site.
The reader will be notified by mail of the documents’ arrival.
All works lent are strictly for personal use and may not be reproduced in full.
PEB supplier
The PEB supplier deals with requests for loans between libraries issued by:

French Libraries that belong to the SUPEB network (requests are electronically managed by the WinIBW software),
-
French libraries that do not belong to the SUPEB network (requests by mail or email),
-
Foreign libraries (request by mail or email),
-
Private individuals (solely photocopy requests).

Fees :
The lenght of the loan is set up to 30 days.
Pre-1850 documents, reading room documents, reserved documents, damaged documents, non-bond periodicals, documents considered non-lendable by the PEB may not be requested for PEB (inter-library loan).
Theses and pre-1920s documents may not be checked out and can only be viewed in supervised reading rooms.
