380 p. (190 f.) (original pagination and modern foliation). 100 x 152 mm (oblong). Lute book of Sir Christopher Lowther (1611-1644), copied in Hamburgh in his own hand to f. 172, ff. 172v-190v copied in a different hand. The manuscript remained in the Lowther family until presented to the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1949 by the Sixth Earl of Lonsdale, Viscount and Baron Lowther, Captain Lancelot Edward Lowther (1867-1953). Dated 1637. Notation french. Lute with 11 courses (G c f a d’ g’).
